This book is an endeavour to present a comprehensive study of the subject which is taught to students of all branches of engineering courses at degree level. In many Universities there are two courses on Strength of Materials or Mechanics of Solids for Mech. Engg. Students and almost all the topics of two courses (i.e. introductory and advanced) have been discusses thoroughly. Each article in a chapter is followed by one or many examples. There these examples are followed by exercises similar to examples and if a student solves these exercises, then he has understood the text of the article clearly.
