About R. M. Lala

R.M. Lala started his career in journalism in the year 1948 at the young age of nineteen. In the year 1959, he became the manager of India’s first book publishing house in London. In 1964, he founded Himmat Weekly with Rajmohan Gandhi, which he edited for over ten years. His first book in 1981, The Creation of Wealth, brought much commendation to him both critically and commercially. Lala’s works have been translated into many other languages including Japanese. Lala was the director of Tata’s foremost foundation the Dorabji Tata Trust for eighteen years. His book The Heartbeat of a Trust is created on the Trust and his experiences working there. He is the esteemed co-founder of the Centre for the Advancement of Philanthropy and has been the chairman of the Centre since the year 1993. Some of his other works are Celebration of the Cells: Letters from a Cancer Survivor, A Touch of Greatness: Encounters with the Eminent, For the Love of India: The Life and Times of Jamsetji Tata, and In Search of Ethical Leadership.
